Who is the compact SNAIGĖ MEDICAL 130 l refrigerator for?

MD14DC-P301QX2 is a compact medical/pharmaceutical refrigerator designed for medicines and other products requiring storage at +2…+8 °C. Gross capacity is 130 l and net capacity is 100 l. At only 870 mm high, it is well suited to a small pharmacy, treatment room, clinic, dental centre or department that does not need a full-height 385 l cabinet.

The glass door allows staff to check contents without opening the refrigerator. Inside are 2 adjustable shelves plus 2 bottom shelves, with a maximum load of 20 kg per shelf. Fan-assisted cooling improves air distribution, while automatic defrost reduces routine maintenance. The manufacturer also allows two compatible units to be stacked, which is useful when two independently controlled storage zones are needed without using additional floor space.

Why use a medical refrigerator instead of a commercial refrigerator for medicines?

A normal beverage or food-display refrigerator may show a similar temperature, but its main purpose is not controlled pharmaceutical storage. The value of a medical refrigerator is not simply that it “gets cold”; it is the combination of temperature stability, alarms and clearly declared performance. For MD14DC-P301QX2 the manufacturer specifies 0.5 °C temperature fluctuation, a 2.9 °C temperature gradient and approximately 8 minutes recovery after a 1-minute door-opening test.

Laboratory refrigerators may be designed for reagents, samples or other materials and can have different operating requirements. For medicines and pharmaceutical products, choose equipment whose documentation explicitly states a medical/pharmaceutical application and +2…+8 °C storage range.

STANDARD configuration – what do you get?

  • +2…+8 °C storage range with a factory setting of +5 °C.
  • Visual and audible temperature alarm – warns staff about a temperature deviation.
  • Fan-assisted cooling – helps distribute temperature more evenly.
  • Access port for an external probe – useful when using an independent thermometer or data logger.
  • Lockable, self-closing and reversible door.
  • LED lighting, automatic defrost and R600a refrigerant.

The STANDARD model is suitable when you need a dedicated compact pharmaceutical refrigerator but temperature logging and remote monitoring are handled separately by your organisation. It is not a domestic or commercial display refrigerator – its application and operating range are designed around pharmaceutical storage.

STANDARD, MAX or MAX PLUS – which configuration suits your needs?

All six 130 l (100 l net) configurations are designed for medicines and pharmaceuticals requiring +2…+8 °C storage. They differ in monitoring and protection features, door design, noise and energy consumption. The advanced 42 dB MD14DD variants are MAX, while the quieter, more energy-efficient 35 dB MD14DD variants are MAX PLUS.

STANDARD – the essential medical configuration

STANDARD provides electronic control, fan-assisted cooling and visual and audible temperature alarms. It is suitable where the organisation uses a separate temperature-logging or remote-monitoring system. Important: neither STANDARD door version has dedicated protection against temperature dropping below +2 °C. A temperature alarm should not be confused with this additional protective function.

MAX – advanced monitoring, 42 dB

MAX adds the advanced MD14DD functions: integrated temperature data logging and access through the Bluetooth / CONTROLLA mobile app, RS485 for compatible monitoring systems, a calibration block, external alarm connection and a volt-free alarm contact. The controller provides minimum/maximum temperature information and an alarm history. Protection against temperatures below +2 °C is included. In a power failure, backup power maintains controller monitoring and alarm functions for up to 24 hours; it does not continue refrigeration.

Choose MAX when you need documented temperature monitoring and integration options but do not specifically need the quieter cooling version. Noise level is 42 dB(A).

MAX PLUS – the same advanced features, 35 dB and lower energy use

MAX PLUS includes the same advanced monitoring, alarms, Bluetooth / CONTROLLA and low-temperature protection as MAX. Its additional benefit is quieter 35 dB(A) operation and lower energy consumption. The glass-door model uses about 236 kWh/year instead of 274, while the solid-door model uses about 153 kWh/year instead of 176. That is approximately 14% and 13% less respectively.

MAX PLUS is particularly useful in treatment or consultation rooms where low operating noise matters. The manufacturer states that the MD14DD range is built to meet the required DIN 13277 features and performance criteria.

How can temperature records be transferred to a computer?

The MAX and MAX PLUS controllers log temperature every 20 minutes and store up to six months of temperature history as well as the last five alarm records. To retrieve this information, connect a mobile phone to the refrigerator controller by Bluetooth using the CAREL CONTROLLA app. The app allows you to select a reporting period from one day to six months and send the temperature report to an email address. The report can then be opened and stored on a computer.

Important: these MD14DD 130 l MAX and MAX PLUS configurations do not support direct USB export of temperature data. Records are transferred to the phone via Bluetooth and then by email. The RS485 interface is intended for connection to a compatible external monitoring system, not for USB file transfer. The phone must be within Bluetooth range of the refrigerator when retrieving records.

Glass door or solid door?

The P301 code denotes glass doors, which make stock checks possible without opening the cabinet. P600 identifies solid metal doors. A solid door is a less expensive, more energy-efficient alternative, not a paid upgrade.

STANDARD and MAX consume approximately 274 kWh/year with glass doors or 176 kWh/year with solid doors. The quieter MAX PLUS versions consume approximately 236 and 153 kWh/year respectively.

Which configuration should you select?

The “Configuration” field is optional. If no option is selected, the base STANDARD glass-door MD14DC-P301QX2 is ordered. Choosing another configuration adjusts the displayed price automatically.

  • STANDARD + glass door – MD14DC-P301QX23XXXXZ1SN4B. Base model, 42 dB(A), approximately 274 kWh/year; convenient visual stock checks.
  • STANDARD + solid door – MD14DC-P600QX23XXXXZ1SN4B. Base monitoring level, 42 dB(A), approximately 176 kWh/year; lower energy use.
  • MAX + glass door – MD14DD-P301QX23AXXXZ1SN4B. Advanced monitoring, Bluetooth / CONTROLLA, protection against temperatures below +2 °C, 42 dB(A), approximately 274 kWh/year.
  • MAX + solid door – MD14DD-P600QX23AXXXZ1SN4B. The same MAX features, 42 dB(A), approximately 176 kWh/year.
  • MAX PLUS + glass door – MD14DD-P301Q123AXXXZ1LT4B. Advanced monitoring and quieter 35 dB(A) operation, approximately 236 kWh/year.
  • MAX PLUS + solid door – MD14DD-P600Q123AXXXZ1LT4B. Advanced monitoring, 35 dB(A), the lowest energy consumption in this range at approximately 153 kWh/year.

Important application note: according to the manufacturer’s instructions, this refrigerator is intended for medicines and pharmaceutical products stored within +2…+8 °C. It is not intended for blood, plasma or other infusion/body fluids, or for chemically unstable or flammable materials.
