A matched split system for product storage

INTARCON MSF-QN-33084A is a split system for standard cold rooms. This system separates the indoor evaporator from the heat-rejecting condensing unit, allowing the cold-room layout and outdoor ventilation/service space to be planned independently. The factory-matched package helps coordinate the refrigeration equipment.

Practical benefits

  • Evaporator suited to room geometry: a low-profile unit preserves ceiling space; a cubic evaporator should be assessed where directed airflow is needed through a longer or more heavily loaded room. Leave circulation and service clearances.
  • Separate heat rejection: allows the condensing unit to be positioned outside the room. Its location must admit fresh air and remove the heat discharged by the refrigeration circuit.
  • Factory refrigeration components: include thermostatic expansion and solenoid valves, pressure protection and electronic control. Site pipework and installation are planned separately.

This model uses a cubic evaporator. Use the temperature-specific ratings in the specification when sizing the room.

Construction designed for servicing

Removable grilles provide access to the fan and coil; Sigilus fan quick connectors simplify removal. The electrical panel has separate access from the refrigeration compartment. Side pipe connections and an accessible safety valve support installation and maintenance. The illustration shows the range construction. R455A is an A2L refrigerant. Assess installation location, permissible charge and room conditions using the exact model instructions. Factory pre-charge covers up to 10 m; longer runs require the manufacturer line-sizing and additional refrigerant/POE oil table.

Range configuration and selection limits

Select freezer equipment at the required negative-temperature point and positive-temperature equipment at its actual room setpoint. The catalogue volume is an initial selection estimate. Frequent door openings and warm incoming stock can require more capacity in a room of the same volume.

The low-noise Sigilus design combines an insulated compressor compartment, lower-speed fans and vibration isolation. The catalogue specifies the compressor sound jacket for standard three-phase Danfoss compressors; it must not automatically be assumed for every single-phase model. Removable panels provide service access.

Condensing unit location and installation

An axial-fan unit needs unobstructed air intake and discharge. Avoid an enclosed, unventilated recess. Where ducted heat rejection is necessary, select a suitable centrifugal configuration and check its own technical ratings.

The manufacturer specifies a maximum vertical separation of 15 m with the condensing unit above the evaporator, or 6 m with it below. These are elevation limits, not pre-charge pipe lengths. Provide a trapped, sloping condensate drain and follow the installation drawing for refrigerant piping and oil return.

How to size this model

Published capacity points for this factory model: 0, +5, +10 °C. In the specification, compare capacity and estimated room volume at the same room temperature. Cooling capacity is not electrical input. Provide internal room dimensions, insulation, ambient temperature, daily product load and incoming temperature, door-opening frequency and the proposed pipe route. An unpublished operating point must not be substituted by a rating at a different temperature.

Supply scope and documentation

Supply covers the factory condensing unit, evaporator and range-specific controls. The cold-room enclosure, site copper pipework and insulation, electrical installation and commissioning are planned separately. Pre-charge for 10 m does not itself mean that pipes or all interconnecting cables are supplied.
